First Look At Supergirl In ‘Legion Of Super-Heroes’ Animated Film

A release date has yet to be officially announced but rest assured we won’t have to wait a thousand years to witness the animated magic of what ‘Legion of Super-Heroes’ is poised to become.

‘Legion Of Super-Heroes’ is DC Comic’s upcoming animated feature set in the 31st century and is set for release in 2023.

Directed by Jeff Wamester (‘Green Lantern: Beware My Power’ & ‘Justice Society: World War II’) and written by Josie Campell (‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power” & the upcoming ‘My Adventures with Superman’), ‘Legion of Super-Heroes’ is instantly setting itself up for success.  The movie will focus on Supergirl and her interactions with the futuristic team.

The synopsis reported by The Hollywood Reporter states:
“The story picks up as Kara, devastated by the loss of Krypton, struggles to adjust to her new life on Earth. Her cousin, Superman, mentors her and suggests she leave their space-time to attend the Legion Academy in the 31st century, where she makes new friends and a new enemy: Brainiac 5. Meanwhile, she must contend with a mysterious group called the Dark Circle as it searches for a powerful weapon held in the Academy’s vault.”

Voice cast as Supergirl is Meg Donnelly, who enjoyed success in Disney’s Zombies franchise and CW’s Supernatural prequel, The Winchesters. Her voice fits naturally well for Kara and it will be interesting to see if she alters herself any for the role. To be honest, her live action roles show she could probably pull off playing a version of Supergirl in person.

Harry Shum Jr., known for his roles in ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, has been cast as Brainiac 5. There are various ways they could portray Brainy and I’m curious to see which way they go. Regardless, there’s no doubt Harry’s voice talents will be up to the task.

Here’s a first look at Supergirl with Brainiac 5 in ‘Legion Of Super-Heroes.

Reprising their roles from ‘Justice Society: World War II’ are Darren Criss as Superman and Matt Bomer as Flash along with Jensen Ackles as Batman. The rest of the Legion is voiced by Cynthia Hamidi, Gideon Adlon, Ely Henry, Robbie Daymond, Yuri Lowenthal, Eric Lopez, Darin De Paul, Ben Diskin, Victoria Grace, Jennifer Hale, Daisy Lightfoot, and Zeno Robinson.
