‘Superman & Lois’ Casts Douglas Smith as Jimmy Olsen
It’s nice to be able to report new developments on Superman & Lois as the CW show enters its fourth and final season. What has been revealed thus far about any setting or premise is that there will be scenes, possibly flashbacks, at the Daily Planet in Metropolis. It just wouldn’t be The Planet without Jimmy Olsen with Clark and Lois, so the CW has cast Douglas Smith as Jimmy Olsen.
TVLine reports that this iteration of Jimmy is a young photographer much more extroverted than the mild-mannered Clark Kent and helps him to come out of his shell as a coworker. Meanwhile, he is unaware that he is working with Superman.
Smith is best known for his work with HBO and was likely sought out quickly by his older brother Gregory Smith, director of eight episodes, to hasten production on season four which has a release date of this year. Smith is also the first actor to portray Jimmy Olsen on the CW as Supergirl featured James Olsen, another take played by Mehcad Brooks.
This take on Jimmy from the CW may be one ripe with plenty of comic book influence like we’ve been seeing from Superman and Lois on this show.
