Superman Fan Starts Petition For Superman To Get Hollywood Star
After Batman was confirmed to be joining the likes of The Simpsons, Godzilla, Bugs Bunny, and more as the latest fictional addition to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a lot of fans couldn’t help but wonder why the first superhero star didn’t go to Superman.
In protest, Superfan Steve Kirk took to Change.org and started a petition to get the Man of Steel a star on the Walk of Fame with the goal of reaching 500 signatures. “To commemorate this heroic character’s almost 90 years of being a huge part of the world’s pop culture zeitgeist, we’re leading the charge to get SUPERMAN a much-deserved star on the venerable Hollywood Walk of Fame,” wrote Kirk, “We, the undersigned, believe that because of Superman’s heroic exploits and the stalwart example he has set for kids and adults over the decades, the Man of Steel should be honored and celebrated with his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
At the time of writing this, the petition has amassed 305 out of the 500. DC Comics is a verified ‘decision maker” on Change.org and if the petition receives its desired signatures, then it will be sent to them. James Gunn is also listed as a decision maker as the head of DC Studios according to the petition.
There are over 2,500 stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, about only 20 are for fictional characters, but I have to agree… surely the first superhero star should go to Superman! You can show your support by backing the petition here.
