McFarlane Toys Starts Pre-Orders For Superman ’78 And Superman vs. Doomsday 2016 Figures
The screen takes on Superman have an irreplaceable place in the DC Multiverse and two of the greatest ones are coming to the namesake McFarlane Toys line as special edition figures. McFarlane Toys are releasing a collectors edition Superman: The Movie figure and a Doomsday vs Superman Two-Pack based on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!
As timeless as the 1978 film is, this figure based on Christopher Reeve’s Man of Steel is more relevant than ever with the release and reception of ‘Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story‘. This DC Multiverse figure is #25 in the McFarlane Collector Edition series. They knew what they were doing when they posed it in the little Fortress set. Reeve was never a big muscular guy, yet Superman still seemed just as powerful. The figure comes with a cloth cape, eight interchangeable hands, and an alternate head. As with all DC Multiverse figures, a special base and art card are included.
Henry Cavill also had the same effect as Christopher Reeve as the Superman of the 2010s. A Superman vs. Doomsday fight was brought to the big screen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. When Zod is resurrected by Lex Luthor as a Doomsday monster, the heroes must come together to stop him. While this Doomsday lacked the spikey dexterity he did in the comics, there is something satisfyingly alien about his appearance here which is now brought to super-sized figure life. Superman makes his heroic stand against the beast with the kryptonite spear made by Batman and also with two sets of interchangeable hands. The collectible character cards are naturally straight from the movie and promotional material.
The McFarlane Toys Collector Edition Superman: The Movie figure is available for pre-order across all retailers for $29.99 and Doomsday and Superman Two-Pack for $69.99. Both are going fast, and some retailers are selling out.
