REVIEW: Secret Six #2
Secret Six #2, “The Gang’s All Here” acts as a final round up of this rather unexpected team. Whilst they don’t quite seem to be getting along, they all have one thing in common – their intentions.
But before we get into the issue itself, let’s take a look at the covers. The standard cover is by Stephen Segovia and pretty much sums up the entirety of the issue. That isn’t a bad thing as we really see these characters showcase their ferocity and in such immaculate detail.

The variant by Ariel Olivetti is as explosive as the issue itself. Here we see Black Alice take on Dreamer and the detail is incredible, there is a sense of photorealism here and the harsh and vibrant background, it’s certainly eye-catching.

Lesley Leirix Li’s variant seemingly links to the Leviathan references in the issue, here we see the team pay homage to the game of Chess as Knights, Kings and Queens. There is a real Anime style about this piece which really suits the characters and their looks.

Secret Six #2 is pretty much an all out brawl between our unlikely team whilst reminding us of the stakes and each of their intentions as they plot and hope to catch Amanda Waller. But before they can do that, they need to figure out who broke her out of prison and what it is they want from there and it’s a race against time.
Pretty soon we get to see a bit more of the Secret Six as a team… If you can call them that. So far, considering who is in this team, it isn’t going well and there are squabbles erupting between them, fighting even. It’s a pretty explosive and action packed issue, but sadly all of the damage is done internally. Writer, Nicole Maines absolutely nails this dynamic and it’s fair to say this is a very unlikely bunch to put together as a team and that just adds to the entertainment of it all. We get more honest and sinister explanations too on what it is that these individuals actually want with Waller, but they really need to start working together to get this job done. Letters are done by Steve Wands.
The interior art is by Stephen Segovia, with colours by Rain Beredo and it is excellent and perfectly suits the tone of the issue. The artwork is very animated and colourful and that really compliments the explosive action of the issue. In terms of fights, there are a lot but it is handled so well with some excellent use of colours to really add effect.
(8/10) Secret Six #2 so far is absolutely crazy and I am really enjoying the unusual dynamic between these characters. I’m looking forward to seeing how it pans out, because so far.. they don’t stand a chance!
