Lars Eidinger Cast as Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow
On December 20, James Gunn revealed the casting of Lars Eidinger as the long-awaited cinematic Brainiac in 2027’s Man of Tomorrow. Eidinger is a German wrapper and musician with a background in theatre. This is also major as DC Studios looks to break the dreaded Brainiac curse and finally complete a movie with the villain as well as the follow up to this year’s Superman.
Interestingly enough, Eidinger’s one major Hollywood credit is a role in Tim Burton’s Dumbo. However, as a musician, he got a start DJing on the punk scene of the early 2000s, which is more or less what the punk aesthetic and motif of James Gunn’s Superman is all about. His sets are reported to last several hours.

Some of the best comic book actors come from overseas. Like with David Corenswet, Brainiac could prove to be Eidinger’s big break in Hollywood. To date, Brainiac has been planned in at least three Superman projects that never came to fruition. This is the furthest anyone has gotten with an actual casting be made.
Man of Tomorrow begins filming next year with James Gunn writing and directing with a release date for summer 2027.
