DC Announces New Early Reader Graphic Novel, ‘You’re A Superhero!’
DC Comics have just announced ‘You’re A Superhero!’, a brand new early reader graphic novel, if it means introducing DC and its heroes to a younger audience, you can sign me up!
It is written by writer and actor Azie Tesfai and is illustrated by Penelope Rivera Gaylord, it is aimed for readers aged 5-7 and brings them an uplifting story revolving around 6 year old Mariam, a girl who loves superheroes but isn’t sure that she sees them in her every day world until she discovers that heroism is actually all around her. You can see where the inspiration came from after Azie Tesfai, also known as Guardian on the Supergirl TV show, became the first Ethiopian and Eritrean person to portray a superhero on TV. Her work on the series centered on community, inclusion, and the idea that everyone has the power to protect and uplift the people around them.
‘You’re A Superhero!’ is the latest addition to DC’s growing line of early reader graphic novels, which introduce these books and characters to young readers. These stories are easily accessible for young readers, allowing them to celebrate courage, kindness and the power of imagination.
‘You’re A Superhero!’ will be priced at $12.99 and is set for release on 3rd November 2026 and is available for pre-order right now from Penguin Random House.
