Adventures Of Superman: Book Of El #7 goes a long way to establish the future of the super twins and it’s one i’m very excited to see! It is an honour to get to know the next and future generations of the Superman family and see them grow.

But before we get into the issue itself, let’s take a look at the covers. The main cover is by Scott Godlewski & Alex Guimarães and honestly it is nothing short of spectacular! It’s eye catching, instantly recognisable and really showcases the character behind the symbol. The creatives behind this cover have somehow managed to combine the feeling of danger, and the feeling of hope to bring us something really special.

REVIEW: Adventures Of Superman: Book Of El #7

The variant by Lucio Parrillo is a classic. As always with their covers there is some incredible detailed here in both the character and also the atmosphere. What’s great about them too is the proportions are all perfect, all the way down to the post and stance of the character.

REVIEW: Adventures Of Superman: Book Of El #7

Stephanie Hans’ variant is a simplistic one, but a beautiful one. We see Superman soaring through the skies and through the clouds, I love the detail on the clouds and the cornfield, it’s perfect imagery when it comes to the character. Not to mention seeing him just covering the sun is a really nice touch and the detail of the lighting is stellar.

REVIEW: Adventures Of Superman: Book Of El #7

Adventures Of Superman: Book Of El #7 opens up with Osul-Ra and Byla plotting moments before the ending of the previous issue, whilst she is just a child she has a big task and a lot of responsibility and whilst Superman previously saved them, it;s time for the Super-Twins or at least one of them to repay the favour. Despite the fact that she hasn’t been with this group for long, the relationship they have together is a great one and it is a testament to the legacy of Superman and how he has impacted them despite being from a different time. Their task is to keep the Black Racer away from Superman, in a bid for him to ‘cheat’ death. But as always, things aren’t easy as they seem and whilst she was doing well, visions start to get in the way confusing her and throwing her off path.

She has her fears, and she feels the weight of the task at hand, but with that said she gives it her all, especially if it means she can save her new found father. Seeing her growth in just a few pages was great to see and honestly I hope we get more focus on her and Otho-Ra in the future, it’s clear they are huge assets of power and with the values of Superman, they could do something great. Not to mention the big reveal on the last pages mean we are exploring unknown but extremely exciting territory. In the prophecy from Byla, as told in this issue and in Warworld, we see how some of his vision starts to become ea reality and whilst it is inevitable and totally expected, it is still a triumphant yet sad moment.

What Phillip Kennedy Johnson does perfectly in this issue is remind us of the foundation that led to this story and the stakes at hand. What I also love is that every little thing that was featured or mentioned in the Warworld Saga is coming to fruition in this series, every little loose end, is being tied up and as a fan of both series and of Phillip Kennedy Johnson it is so satisfying to get those conclusions.

The artwork by Scott Godlewski & Alex Guimarães is nothing short of spectacular, the details are incredible, the atmospheres are incredible, as are the character and creature designs and it’s safe to say it’s an action packed issue that spares no detail. The atmospheric colours really add to the adventure of it all and really allows you to see the depths of space and the power weilded in the issue.

(8/10) Adventures Of Superman: Book Of El #7 goes a very long way to establish the future of the Super Twins and it’s one I am here for and really looking forward to exploring. The final pages of the issue really has me excited for what to come and I’m sure PKJ has a few more surprises up his sleeves.
