The New Zealand Mint has produced a new set of Superman coins sure to catch the eye of any collector.
Collectors have a choice of two sizes each of either pure silver or pure gold coins. Officially licensed by DC Comics, the New Zealand Mint Superman Coins come in an elegant display box for showcasing ease and a certificate of authenticity.
The 1/4oz. and 1oz. gold coins feature a great rendition of Superman’s bust that captures a bit of his cape and the majority of his emblem. The full symbol of hope is on display above his shoulder in a very eye catching way. The 1/4oz. coin is 22mm in diameter and is priced at $800 USD with a limited mint run of 500 and The 1oz. version sports a $2600 USD price tag, a limited run of 250, and is 32mm in diameter.
The 1oz. silver coin has a 40mm diameter allowing it to display all but Superman’s feet. Seeing a near full body image of Superman, you can tell the art is fashioned after Jim Lee’s New 52 design. This version of the coin also fits an image of Superman flying towards us and has the iconic S shield in the lower right. The least expensive of the four coins, the 1oz. silver piece is priced at $109 USD and limited to 5000.
With a 55mm diameter, the 3oz. silver coin adds even more to its face, using the same image from the 1oz. silver coin, the 3oz. version adds the covers to Action Comics #1 and Adventures of Superman #424 to the background. Priced at $299 USD and limited to 1000, this coin is advertised as Kryptonite for Collectors.
