In the DC Multiverse line, a new Superman figure based on his appearance in ‘Batman: Hush’ and a Steel figure based on his first appearance in ‘Reign of the Supermen’ were announced.
McFarlane Toys were on a roll with Superman character announcements as they wrapped up their Winter Showcase for the year, which presents all the newest releases coming later this year.
In the DC Multiverse line, a new Superman figure based on his appearance in ‘Batman: Hush’ and a Steel figure based on his first appearance in ‘Reign of the Supermen’ were announced.
McFarlane Toys has tackled Superman from ‘Batman: Hush‘ before, so this one is more of a remaster of an existing figure. The Hush storyline is a great way to base a Superman figure or statue off of because the maker has an excuse to make him scary and imposing, all while maintaining the iconic design elements of his largely unchanged suit.
John Henry Irons made his debut as Steel in the ‘Reign of the Supermen’ story in the aftermath of Death of Superman as the world was left without a Man of Steel. Irons sought to fill the role himself literally. The original Steel suit had all the design elements of Superman like a belt and red cape with a very human face-shaped helmet. The subtle parts of the suit may come and go over the years but that hammer always stays.
While these Multiverse 7” figures don’t look like they will be part of a build-a-figure series, they will most likely include the trademark collective character cards that come with each DC Multiverse release with original comic art.
At this time, there aren’t too many release date details on the figures, all we can expect is for the ‘Hush’ Superman and Steel action figures to drop later this year.
