Check Out The DC Eisner 2024 Nominations List

Among the nominees for the 2024 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, DC and Image Comics have a lead with 13 and 17 nominations respectively – eight of which are shared. The ongoing Nightwing and Transformers series have been some of the most highly acclaimed comics of the year, but the list did also reveal some Superman-related titles on the list of nominations for DC. 

In the Best Short Story category, Tom King and Belen Ortega have been nominated for “World’s Finest, Part 1” in Wonder Woman #3. This issue saw Diana take the battle to the Sovereign in the wake of an Amazon murder that was motivated by hate. 

DC has two nominees in the Best Single-Issue category. Nightwing #105 by Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo was a unique issue because it featured a first-person perspective of Dick Grayson’s adventures in Bludhaven. 2023’s Superman Annual by Joshua Williamson, Edwin Galmon, Jack Herbert, Mahmud Asrar, and Caitlin Yarsky saw a day in the life of the Daily Planet under Lois Lane’s leadership in the new Superman and Action Comics era. 

DC dominates the best continuing series category with Birds of Prey by Kelly Thompson and Leonardo Basto Romero, Nightwing by Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo, Shazam! by Mark Waid and Dan Mora, and Wonder Woman by Tom King and Daniel Sampere. 

Superman: Lost, Christopher Priest, and Carlo Pagulayan’s unforgettable story about a displaced Superman has been nominated for Best Limited Series. Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons by Kelly Sue DeConnick, Phil Jimenez, Gene Ha, and Nicola Scott. 

Tom Taylor, Kelly Thompson, Mark Waid, and G. Willow Wilson have all been nominated for Best Writer –Taylor for his work on Nightwing and Titans, Thompson for Birds of Prey, Waid for Shazam! and Batman Superman World’s Finest, and Wilson for her Poison Ivy series. 

Jason Shawn Alexander (Detective Comics) and Dan Mora (World’s Finest, Shazam!) have been nominated for Best Penciller/Inker. Mora is also nominated for Best Cover Artist, along with Jen Bartel, Evan Cagle, and Jenny Frison. Lastly, Jordie Bellaire has been nominated for Best Coloring. 

The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards annually take place at SDCC. This year’s will run from July 25 to 28.
