Mondo Release ‘Superman: The Movie’ Soundtrack 2XLP & Graphic Novel Box Set
Mondo are renowned for remastering movie soundtracks and placing them on vinyl records in newly designed casing with new original art. ‘Superman: The Movie’ would naturally get this treatment from Mondo, and they are currently taking pre-orders for their new collector’s box set.
I write box set because it doesn’t just include the two-vinyl record set with John William’s classic score of the Christopher Reeves classic, but also a special trade edition of ‘Superman ’78’ by Robert Venditti, Wilfredo Torres, and Jordie Bellaire. The exclusive artwork for the clamshell casing as well as the cover of Superman ‘78 is by Joe Quinones and Paolo Rivera. The interior fold’s art is an art-deco-inspired illustration of Metropolis and the Fortress of Solitude.
Mondo actually revealed the soundtrack set at New York Comic Con last year and promised a wider release. The records are colored with what is described as “Metropolis Swirl Vinyl,” exclusively available from Mondo. The set also includes a printing of the Daily Planet that includes liner notes by Michael Matessino.
Pre-orders are limited to one per household but are now live for the Mondo ‘Superman: The Movie’ Soundtrack 2XLP and graphic novel set at the DC Shop for $65.00 with orders expected to ship out in May.
