Krypto Seemingly Confirmed To Feature In Upcoming ‘Superman’ Film
With James Gunn’s new Superman movie heading to post production, it seemed the next bit of news we’d get to hype about would be the teaser trailer.
That’s not the case, however, as acclaimed comic writer/legend Mark Waid gave us a pleasant spoiler during a recent podcast interview. Waid, is currently writing ‘Batman/Superman: World’s Finest’, the ‘Absolute Power’ company crossover event, is next in line for the Superman Super Stars project in ‘Action Comics’, and the upcoming ‘Justice League Unlimited’ series.
He recently featured on the podcast Capes & Lunatics to discuss his latest endeavors. The discussion can’t help but dip into the cinematic world where Waid talks about his thoughts on James Gunn. Quoted saying, “I like Gunn’s reverential approach by and large to this kind of stuff, and you know reverential without taking it too seriously. I mean, the movie has a dog in it, a superpowered dog with heat vision.”
The aforementioned dog with heat vision can be none other than Krypto the Superdog! No matter how important his appearance may be in “Superman”, Krypto plays a pivotal role in the “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” story by Tom King for which her movie is supposedly based. Having him show up before then instantly adds a level of interconnectiveness and foresight into how the new cinematic DCU is being shaped.
Honestly, anything with Krypto always adds an element of fun so here’s hoping his scenes don’t get cut from the film.
