DC Announces 'Supergirl' Ongoing Comic Series - The Aspiring Kryptonian

With Supergirl getting her own solo movie in 2026, it’s about time we got an ongoing solo Supergirl series to match! Well, DC have just announced an ongoing comic series which is set to release later this year!

The series is set to continue the ‘Summer Of Superman’ initiative but also be a part of the ‘DC All In’ titles. It will be written and illustrated by Sophie Campbell, with colours by Tamra Bonvillain and will take Supergirl in a brand new direction. Supergirl will go back to her roots in Midvale, but returning to her hometown after so many years away already presents some challenges: there’s already another Supergirl there, protecting the town and saving the day. In the series we will see if the real Supergirl can discover the identity of the impostor and stop them before they steal her very life!

With a new series, Supergirl also gets a new costume, designed by cover artist Stanley “Artgerm” Lau. Here’s what Artgerm had to say about his design, “Having done artwork for video games, I’m pretty familiar with creating character designs and costumes. In designing a new costume for Supergirl, I wanted to create something fresh while keeping the key elements intact. I adopted the theme of ‘sporty and fun, but packs a punch,’ and incorporated those elements in the costume; I also made changes to the chest symbol to give it a more dynamic spin. Sophie’s captured the look perfectly, and I can’t wait for readers to see it.”

Supergirl’s fresh look will be spotlighted on the main cover by series writer/artist Campbell and a card stock and foil variant by Artgerm, as well as variant covers by Bilquis Evely (Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow), Pablo Villalobos, Joshua Middleton and W. Scott Forbes.
