Phillip Kennedy Johnson Returns To Superman With ‘Adventures Of Superman: The Book of El’ Series
Phillip Kennedy Johnson is the mastermind behind the already iconic ‘Warworld Saga’ from Action Comics, an era of Superman that captivated comic readers and brought us a new and exciting take on the Man of Steel.
His arc was replaced with the ‘Superman Superstar’ initiative, which is also pretty fantastic. With that said Phillip Kennedy Johnson is now set to return to writing Superman in a brand new series called ‘Adventures Of Superman: The Book Of El’ and I couldn’t be happier!
The news was accidentally and wrongfully released within the pages of DC Connect #56 along with a list of the full creative team and a look at the covers for #1. As mentioned, the series will be written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, with art and covers by Scott Godlewski. Issue one features variant covers by Björn Barends, Rahzzah, Riccardo Federici, Marguerite Sauvage. There is still one more variant artist to be announced.

Whilst the series is still happening despite claims from comic book news sites that it had been cancelled, though the series has been pushed back to later this year. In a social media post, writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson confirmed the reason and cleared up any false claims that the series has been cancelled. That reason being scheduling issues and timings of upcoming Superman releases and this story clashing with that of others.
Here is the official synopsis from DC:
