Superman Movie Fundraiser: ReelOutreach’s Superheroic Charity

The character of Superman is beloved for countless reasons. While some might say his planet pushing strength and his metal melting heat vision are his defining characteristics, many others would say it’s what he chooses to do with this power that makes him so beloved. Instead of drowning the world out and simply choosing not to help his fellow man, he uses his unique gifts to help everyone he can, no matter where they’re from. And much like Superman, ReelOutreach is doing their best to bring hope to those who need it most. And much like Superman, they also need help from superfriends to reach a goal.

ReelOutreach first launched back in 2018, and since then, has done their best to bring the magic of watching a film in theaters to kids who may not otherwise be able to. Jordan Maison, the program’s founder, knows that feeling all too well, as he also grew up in circumstances that didn’t allow much room for going to the movies and escaping into the world of cinema. Much like Clark Kent, His parents were a huge inspiration to him, as they not only provided for him as best they could, but also gave back to their community as well, through donating to Habitat for Humanity and Toy Drives and taught him the importance of staying involved. Because of his love for pop culture and filmmaking, he got a job as a journalist and eventually became Editor in Chief of Cinelinx.com. With over a decade of experience with having a finger on the pulse of the film industry, paired with his PR connections, he can now create awesome events and give these kids positive core memories. Through their support from donations, they’ve been able to rent out entire theater rooms and also use a portable projector for in person events.

With the summer of Superman on its way, there’ll be millions of families going to see the brand new film. However, there will also be an innumerable amount of kids without families or limited financial support who won’t be able to enjoy the film along with the rest. But through a donation to their gofundme post, you can help make certain that they can. And fortunately, James Gunn, the director of Superman himself, donated to the cause as well. And while many cape clad contributors have participated, they still haven’t quite met their goal. This is where you come in. No matter how small the amount you give, it makes a difference. As of now, they’re at the halfway mark. But with your help, they can achieve their dream. ReelOutreach, at the end of the day, simply wants to aid these children in both helping them escape reality and inspiring them creatively the same way it did for Jordan growing up. As stated in the About Us section of the ReelOutreach.com website, says “Film has had a major impact on his life and he hopes to share that love of movies with other kids growing up in a similar situation, to either spark their own dreams/goals, or provide them the momentary escape they need.”

Superman, to many comic book fans, is the epitome of heroism. He’s the textbook example, and it makes perfect sense, as he was the first. And while we may be only human and don’t always make the right choices and have the capacity to do bad things, we also have an endless capacity for good. Superman reminds us of that. So, if you’ve got some spare time and some spare cash, why not donate to a caring cause, and show the future generations the importance of looking up.
