DC & Penguin Random House Audio Bring ‘Kingdom Come’ to Life in a Star-Studded Audiobook
DC Comics fans, get ready for another epic leap from the page to the world of immersive sound. Hot on the heels of this summer’s acclaimed All-Star Superman audiobook, DC and Penguin Random House Audio are reuniting to deliver a full-cast audio adaptation of one of the most beloved and influential stories in comic book history: Kingdom Come.
Set for release Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the groundbreaking four-issue 1996 miniseries from Mark Waid and legendary artist Alex Ross will now echo through speakers with an all-new production adapted and directed by audio pioneer Dirk Maggs. With more than thirty actors, original music, and cinematic sound design, this promises to be an audiobook event unlike any other.

Maggs—celebrated for his decades of award-winning work adapting Superman, Batman, and more—calls Kingdom Come his long-awaited dream project.
“Among them all, Kingdom Come was always the one that got away,” Maggs explains. “At last, thanks to Penguin Random House Audio, I can tell Mark Waid’s epic story, with Alex Ross’s beautiful artwork brought alive through cinematic sound design combined with James Hannigan’s stirring orchestral score.”
At its core, Kingdom Come is a vision of the future—an era when the original heroes have stepped aside, only to watch a reckless new generation of so-called champions rise in their place. Their brutality forces Superman and the classic Justice League out of retirement for one final battle to redefine the meaning of justice itself.
The story has long been celebrated as a timeless masterpiece, blending superhero spectacle with deep moral questions. Now, fans can experience its power in a whole new way—through soundscapes that transport listeners into its dramatic, dystopian world.
The production reunites Marc Thompson (Star Wars, Pokémon), who returns as Superman after his celebrated performance in All-Star Superman. He’s joined by an impressive cast of voices:
- Glenn Wrage as Batman/Bruce Wayne
- Lorelei King as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince
- Kerry Shale as The Spectre/Jim Corrigan
- William DeMeritt as Billy Batson
- Edoardo Ballerini as Norman McCay
- Garrick Hagon as Wesley Dodds
- Tom Alexander as Magog
- John Chancer as UN Secretary Wyrmwood
- Ray Porter as Lex Luthor
They’ll be supported by a sweeping ensemble of more than 20 additional actors, ensuring that every moment of this epic is given voice and weight.
For longtime fans and newcomers alike, this is more than an adaptation—it’s a resurrection of one of DC’s most defining works. With its stellar cast, visionary direction, and sweeping sound design, Kingdom Come promises to be an audio experience that redefines what it means to hear a superhero story.
