New Superman POP! Figures Coming From Funko
With all these new Superman POP!s coming out, you’d think it was the 90th anniversary already. These are Supermen throughout the ages from the pages and screen with some iterations making their long-awaited return to POP! form. Funko announced four POP! figures as part of the Superman Shield Through The Ages collection and two from the Curiosities & Oddities collection for New York Comic Con.
The Superman Shield Through The Ages collection features Golden Age Superman, Superman ’58, Blackest Night Superman, and Fall of Sinestro Superman. Golden Age Superman is stylized with retro shading and closed eyes that resemble the beady ones he and other cartoon characters had at the time. The suit is very much that of Action Comics #1. Superman ’58 is George Reeves’ Superman from the series Adventures of Superman that ran from 1952 to 1958, one of the first Supermen on the screen –beautifully stylized in black and white no less.

Making his return to Funko POP! is Blackest Lantern Superman, the reanimated corpse of Earth-2’s Superman as seen in the epic 2009 event Blackest Night. This figure is an upgrade in every sense of the word. The eyes are glowing red, he’s in the flying pose, the zombie face is more defined, and the cape is waving. Superman also dons a yellow power ring with the Sinestro Falls Superman POP!. This is the most recent iteration of Superman with the story of Sinestro coming to Earth and Superman getting possessed by Parallax taking place towards during Rebirth. The disheveled hair is a great touch, and the power ring also gets a cool effect.
15 years ago, Funko began making DC POP! figures. They’re commemorating it with POP! mystery boxes featuring figures with the same likeness as the first DC releases from more than a decade ago trsfy . The blind box features 500 classic Superman POP! figures. Others include 2000 Batman figures, 1000 Joker figures, 1000 Robin figures, 400 Wonder Woman figures, and 100 Flash figures.

Saving the best for last, he’s finally back! We’re finally getting a new Kingdom Come Superman Funko POP!. Complete with the comic shading style and flying base, the aged Kal-El the returned to fight for truth and justice has never looked this great in POP! form. Like the Blackest Night one, they took it and completely upgraded it. This is an essential to any Superman POP! collection.

No release date has been given, but it’s likely before or during New York Comic Con in October. Funko POP!’s release at $14.99 in retail.
