McFarlane Toys Showcases New Super Powers and Super Friends Figures
McFarlane Toys released a slew of photos on social media revealing a new wave of Super Powers and Super Friends figures as well as a special edition Superman figure. While Super Powers figures are based on the original 4.5 action figure series and Super Friends measure one and a half inches higher, they all still have that retro toy appeal.
Available exclusively from Entertainment Earth is the newest wave of Super Powers featuring Power Girl, Supergirl, Cyborg Superman, the Eradicator, Green Lantern, and Convergence Robin. They’re bringing out tons of members of the Superman family for this one and tons of felt capes to go around. The aged Hal Jordan is a nice addition to Green Lantern collections and Convergence Robin is always a deep cut.

Meanwhile at select retailers, things are getting silly in the best possible way for the next wave of Super Friends figures based on the show. This wave includes titular cast members Wonder Woman and Black Vulcan, but the center piece of this set is the Superman and Mr. Mxyzptlk two-pack which comes with a farmer’s hat and a rake, referencing the episode when the Imp once again messes with the Man of Steel. Knowing him, this may have been dig at Clark Kent. This also marks the first time in a while where a Superman figure attachment isn’t Kryptonite or a chain.
Also, from the Super Friends series comes the GameStop exclusive crystalized Superman figure. The Superman mold is given a clear coating, and the cape is made silver for this Red Platinum Edition figure. We’ll also be seeing this figure hit other stores like Walmart and Target in July.
The pre-orders for Wave 13 of Super Powers has sold out, but the Super Friends set and even the crystalized Superman are available on McFarlane Toy’s website.
