Lionel HO Scale Superman Cars Available for Pre-Order
Model train maker Lionel is at it again with new Superman rolling stock, this time for the HO (1:87) scale electric trains. While Lionel specializes in the larger O scale, HO scale remains the most popular due to their smaller size and intricacy potential of layouts. Pre-orders for these new Superman box cars are now open on Lionel’s online shop.
The new Superman boxcar features classic Jim Lee-like art of the Man of Steel in addition to Krypto –making his Lionel merch debut! Also, on the other side of car is Supergirl as she appears in Woman of Tomorrow. Blue and red box cars pop out against any dull black or grey train. Like their O scale counterparts, HO boxcars by Lionel like this one also have sliding doors.
The Superman Aquarium car creates the illusion that the Superman image is flying through Metropolis as the city background moves behind it as the car moves. Like the box car, it’s all blue and red livery with modern comic art and the House of El emblem. The Superman that flies around within the aquarium is more retro looking. The best kind of Superman collectables are those that acknowledge his history.
The DC Superman Boxcar is available for pre-order for $40.99 and is estimated to ship out on Christmas. The DC Superman Aquarium Car is available to pre-order for $59.99 and is estimated to ship out on February 20.
