DC’s Brave & Bold Brings Superman and the DC Universe to your Tabletop
Couldn’t make it to Gen Con this year? Superman fans may have just gotten another chance to bring one of the convention’s newest DC experiences home. The official Superman Instagram account recently spotlighted Resurrection Games’ Brave & Bold: Bag Building Combat Game, sharing a promotion aimed directly at fans who couldn’t make it to Indianapolis.
“Couldn’t make it to Indy?” the promotion asks before encouraging fans to order the game and receive Gen Con pricing. The promotion comes just days after Brave & Bold received its full retail release on Sept. 4. Before that, the game received its first public release at Gen Con 2026, which was held July 30 through Aug. 2 in Indianapolis, Indiana. And Superman isn’t just another character in the game. The Man of Steel is where Brave & Bold began. According to Resurrection Games, Superman was the first character designed for the new combat game. The developers wanted him to immediately feel powerful, hit hard and serve as a strong introductory character for players learning how the game works.
Naturally, you can’t have Superman without Lex Luthor. While Superman relies heavily on his strength, Lex approaches battle very differently. Resurrection Games designed Superman’s greatest enemy around strategy, timing and carefully planned combinations—making the longtime rivals almost complete opposites when it comes to gameplay.
Superman and Lex Luthor are available together in a two-character set currently listed by Resurrection Games at $32.50. Supergirl and Lobo also have their own two-character set at the same listed price. For fans wanting even more DC action, the Brave & Bold Combat Vault features eight playable characters: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Lex Luthor, Cheetah, Clayface and Darkseid. The Combat Vault is currently listed for $97.50 through Resurrection Games.
Instead of traditional deck-building, Brave & Bold introduces what Resurrection Games calls a “bag-building” combat system. Players build an arsenal of tokens inside their individual bags and draw from them during battle to activate attacks, defenses, resources and special abilities. Gameplay moves through Watchtower, Preparation and Combat phases. Following battle, players can Resupply, Rebalance and Reload before heading into another round. But perhaps one of the game’s most interesting features is that choosing a different character means experiencing a different style of play. Superman isn’t simply Batman with different artwork, and Lex Luthor isn’t just Superman wearing a villain costume. Each character has abilities and strategies designed around who they are.
“Our goal was to create a system where the character you choose truly changes how you play,” lead designer Brad Zander said. Designed for ages 8 and older and supporting two to six players, Brave & Bold gives DC fans another way to answer one of those questions comic book readers have debated forever:
