Mark Millar Issues Update On Upcoming Superman Title At High Vis Comic Con, Birmingham

Mark Millar attended High Vis Comic Con, Birmingham earlier this month which was said to be his only con appearance this decade. During that appearance, organiser Olly MacNamee hosted a dedicated panel which covered his work at Marvel, what’s coming up in the ‘Millarverse’ and also the previously announced Superman story that he was said to be writing for DC.

It seems fans might have to wait a little longer than expected for this Superman story, as Millar stated that he would no longer be releasing his story with or alongside DC… For those that don’t know, Superman as a character will be available under public domain in 2034 and Millar plans to use that to his full advantage. Whilst he gave no more information regarding his plans for the upcoming story, this proves to be a very exciting update. Waiting for the character to be free public domain means full creative freedom with no restrictions from DC Comics.

Millar also went onto mention that as other superhero characters are available under public domain, he too plans to pen a story for them – he currently has plans for Batman, Wonder Woman and also Captain America. With the resources he has from ‘Millarworld’, he also mentioned lightheartedly that they could even then go on to be adapted into film.

As a huge fan of Mark Millar, I’m positive this upcoming Superman title will be incredible, even if we do have to wait a fairly long time for it!
