DC Comics Announces DC/Looney Tunes Comic Specials
Previously DC Comics has featured the famous Looney Tunes characters onto variant covers of the DC superheroes issues – including Superman, Batman/Superman and solo Batman issues. I actually own a few of the Superman ones myself, and they are fantastic re-enactments of famous past issues, but instead of starring the villains, they star Bugs Bunny and Sylvester The Cat.
More recently, DC incorporated Warner Bro’s famous cartoon characters into the story itself, and not just on the cover in Batman/Elmer Fudd. Following the huge success, popularity and sales of the series, even more collaborations are in the works. This August DC Comics / Looney Tunes have announced that they will release four, one issue specials. The issues will be 48 pages and will feature a main story and a bonus story for the cover title characters, all set to be released in comic book stores on August 29th.
Although there are four, I am excited for one in particular – Lex Luthor/Porky Pig. The core story is written by Mark Russell and has artwork by Andrew Hennessy and Brad Walker. Following this a bonus story will be thrown in, written by Jim Fanning and John Loter on the artwork. The incredible cover is by Ben Oliver, it’s realism and artwork bring Porky Pig to real life and he looks a little terrifying!
The plot synopsis is below;
A distressed Porky Pig seeks a new career, as his personal and financial life is ruined. He applies for an ‘entry-level’ job at LexCorp and becomes the successful candidate. To thank Lex for the opportunity, Porky becomes his most loyal employee, which isn’t his best idea. Later a huge scandal arises and Lex is summoned to a Congressional Committee Council, but who will be sacrificed to save him?
Here are the other alliances we can expect;
-
- Catwoman/Tweety and Sylvester
- Harley Quinn/Gossamer
- The Joker/Daffy Duck
great art!
