REVIEW: Justice League Infinity #5
Writers JM Dematteis and James Tucker deliver an action packed issue with some great character moments, some unexpected twists and turns, and a pinch of romantic tension thrown in for flavor.
Justice League Infinity #5 has released, and we’re diving back in to the DC Animated Universe’s new Multiverse!
The cover by Meghan Hetrick gives us a good look at what we’ll be seeing in this issue, namely a team up between Supermen and (what appears to the untrained eye to be) Superman villains from across the multiverse. Superman is rendered a little skinnier here than we’re used to seeing him in this universe, almost bearing a likeness to Tyler Hoechlin, the actor who portrays Superman in the CW’s Superman and Lois TV Series. The painted textures and vibrant use of color and light here really make this cover pop, plus it’s a Superman centric, so no complaints here!
In Justice League Infinity #5, Wonder Woman is rescued from the desolate surface of Apokolips by Superman and the Justice League from President Superman’s Earth. We are also shown the fate of the Nazi controlled Savage Time Earth on which Superman had been stranded, when he and the resistance mount a final assault on that planet’s dictator!
This issue is packed with high stakes action and interesting drama. We learn that not all our characters doppelgängers are quite so friendly, even if they’re on the side of good, and Vandal Savage is finally confronted face to face with disastrous results! We get some closure for the legendary story arc from last issue, and there’s even a moment of romantic tension between Superman and Wonder Woman, which is a first for this universe of characters.
Ethan Beavers continues to knock it out of the park in the interior art department, especially where Superman and Wonder Woman are concerned, giving us a perfect TV series accurate depiction of the famous duo.
Writers J M DeMatteis and James Tucker deliver an action packed issue with some great character moments, some unexpected twists and turns, and a pinch of romantic tension thrown in for flavor. A diverse cast of new characters from across the multiverse are on display here, ensuring something new and exciting for even the long time DC comics fan!
