Superman & Lois are set to recast the role of Jonathan Kent after actor and series regular Jordan Elsass quits the show.

It was announced today that he will be leaving the show and will not be returning for series three after he failed to report to work in Vancouver to start filming. The series producer of Warner Bros. TV said “Jordan Elsass has notified the Studio that he will not be returning to Superman & Lois for season three due to personal reasons. The role of Jonathan Kent will be recast.”

Personally I think this is a huge shame for him, but also for the show. Elsass had great chemistry with his fellow cast members and that really showed in the series, not to mention the fact that he portrayed the character perfectly. This was a huge opportunity for him to walk away from, however it is clear there is a more serious reason behind the decision.

Whilst there has been no official statement from Jordan Elsass or his team as of yet, there are rumours circling. Some state that he has been dealing with personal issues relating to mental heath, but some suggest that he refused Covid vaccinations therefore restricting his travel abilities. Elsass had also pulled out of several comic con appearances just over a week before this announcement, where he sent a message to apologise to fans. The convention organisers from Monopoly Events stated the reason for pulling out was a clash in filming schedules.

As time goes on, I’m sure we will get an official statement from Elsass and his team. Whilst I’m sad about the announcement, I wish him all the very best and look forward to seeing who gets the role in the Superman & Lois Recast.
