Mark Waid Confirmed To Write DC Black Label Superman Series
‘Superman: The Last Days Of Lex Luthor’ is set for release on July 25th and will be available from your local comic store.
Earlier today, DC announced that the legendary Mark Waid is set to write yet another Superman story. Waid is currently the writer for the Batman/Superman: World’s Finest series and if his work in that is anything to go by, us Superman fans are in for a treat.
The series will be titled ‘Superman: The Last Days Of Lex Luthor’ and is set to be released a DC Black Label series. As mentioned, it will be written by Mark Waid with art by Bryan Hitch, it will be a three part series with bimonthly releases.
Here is the official synopsis from DC, “Superman learns Lex Luthor is dying—and wants the Man of Steel to help him find the cure for whatever is causing his rapid decline. While the world wants to say good riddance to Luthor, Superman will go to the ends of the universe, through different dimensions, and across time to save his foe. But just why does he want to save the person who’s spent his life trying to destroy him? And will he even be able to find the solution?”
Here’s a look at some of the covers for #1 by Bryan Hitch:
Not only does this series have an incredibly creative team, but it also has a great team behind the variant covers. In additional to Hitch’s standard covers, there will also be variant covers by Kevin Nowlan, Chis Samnee, Yanick Paquette (1:25) and Doc Shaner (1:50).
Here’s what Mark Waid had to say about the series and a first look at some of the preview pages, “For the first time, Superman’s fighting the tide of public opinion, embarking on a mission that billions of people outright oppose. But he has his reasons—partly because of who he is, but partly because of a debt he feels he owes—and readers of Superman: Birthright might already guess what that perceived debt is. Together, Superman and Lex are racing the clock in search of a cure as they travel the breadth of the super-universe, from Atlantis to Kandor to the Phantom Zone, all spectacularly reimagined by Bryan Hitch.”
