James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ Logo Fully Revealed
James Gunn’s post on Superman’s birthday announced that the upcoming ‘Superman: Legacy’ project would now just simply be called “Superman” along with a behind-the-scenes tease on what the Man of Steel’s logo would be for this iteration. Now, the Kingdom Come-influenced insignia has fully been confirmed by Gunn & Peter Safran at CinemaCon 2024.
Need to say, it will be interesting seeing the symbol that comic fans have long identified as that of a veteran Superman be applied to a younger one. Superman Beyond’s chest insignia is also not a far cry from that of Kingdom Come. But, the red and yellow is all still there. As said in the last announcement, the more straight-edged design for the logo does make it feel more alien.
It’s also such a niche logo to choose for a Superman film. Perhaps using an older Superman’s logo, they’re trying to say that he’ll be here for a while. At the same time, perhaps Superman may get different suits and symbols in the movie or planned cinematic universe like Iron Man or Spider-Man.
