DC K.O. Brings DC’s Greatest Heroes and Villains into a New Mobile Fighting Arena

Independent studio Drop Fake has officially unveiled DC K.O, a new free-to-play mobile fighting game scheduled to launch on iOS and Android devices in 2027. Developed and self-published by Drop Fake, the officially licensed DC game will combine fast-paced combat, character collection and role-playing features with explosive 2v2 tag-team battles.

The shared title immediately raises questions about a possible connection to DC’s recently concluded DC K.O. comic-book event. Although the game embraces the event’s fighting-tournament spirit, neither Drop Fake nor DC has announced it as an adaptation, continuation or official tie-in. The comic centered on Darkseid, the Heart of Apokolips and a tournament to crown King Omega, while the game’s revealed story content features entirely different threats.

Players will assemble their ultimate pair of DC Super Heroes, Super-Villains and antiheroes before facing live opponents in true real-time player-versus-player battles. Competitors will be able to challenge players around the world and fight their way up the global leaderboards. Combat will use accessible tap-and-swipe controls, allowing players to deliver quick strikes, heavier attacks, grabs and aerial combos. Fighters can call their partners into battle for assists, combine their attacks during Combo Tags or unleash devastating Super Tags that bring both characters’ Super Moves together.

The confirmed roster currently includes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Robin, Nightwing, Starfire, Raven, Cyborg, Green Lantern, Zatanna, Constantine, Blue Beetle, Katana, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Bane, Lex Luthor and Doomsday. According to the game’s official FAQ, more than 20 Legends are planned for launch, with a new character expected to join the fight every month. For Superman fans, the Man of Steel is being positioned as one of the game’s heavy hitters, capable of overpowering opponents and launching them into the air for devastating follow-up attacks. Players will also be able to level up their Legends, unlock abilities and stat boosts, customize their Super Moves and obtain costumes inspired by decades of DC history.

Here’s the official trailer:

DC K.O. will not be limited to competitive multiplayer. Its story-driven player-versus-environment content will send players against Ra’s al Ghul and the League of Assassins, Amazo’s robot army, Trigon’s demon hordes and other threats. Seasonal Missions, Rifts and the Arena will offer additional challenges, while earned currency and experience can strengthen characters for both PvE and PvP battles. The action unfolds inside a living comic-book world filled with bold inks, electric colors and explosive Supers. Iconic locations such as Metropolis, the Batcave and the Lazarus Pits will serve as battlegrounds as DC’s greatest champions and deadliest villains collide.

Pre-registration for the DC K.O. mobile game is now open and contributes toward community rewards ranging from Luthor Coins and Promethean Cores to Omega Gems, consumables and a unique player portrait frame. Registration is free, although the finished game will include optional in-app purchases. An exact release date has not been announced, but Drop Fake is planning hands-on opportunities before launch.
