Absolute Superman Leads the Absolute Trinity into DC Worlds Collide
The Absolute Trinity is breaking out of the comic books and crashing into the gaming world! Absolute Superman, Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman are making their video-game debuts in DC Worlds Collide as part of the mobile role-playing game’s Absolute Season. The special event gives players their first opportunity to take control of the radically reimagined versions of DC’s legendary Trinity that have taken the comic-book world by storm.
DC Worlds Collide teased their arrival with a message that perfectly captures what makes these heroes different: “No island paradise. No stately manor. No Fortress of Solitude.” Instead, these are heroes stripped of many of the familiar advantages traditionally associated with them and forced to find new paths toward becoming the icons fans know and love. For Superman fans, that means Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval’s Absolute Man of Steel, who arrived on comic-book shelves in November 2024. This Kal-El did not arrive on Earth as a baby and grow up with the Kents in the traditional way, while his connection to Krypton, Smallville and even his powers have been dramatically reimagined.

The game’s current App Store listing specifically promotes players being able to use Absolute Superman, Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman “for the first time in video games.” Absolute Superman is also being spotlighted through his own event, which challenges players to fully ignite his power. Separate events are also being promoted for Absolute Batman and the larger Absolute Universe.
But these new additions are joining a game already deeply rooted in DC Comics history. Developed by Warner Bros. Games San Francisco, DC Worlds Collide features more than 70 heroes and villains and pits players against the Crime Syndicate in strategic 3D battles. DC says the game was inspired by the comic-book storylines Trinity War and Forever Evil, with modes ranging from boss battles to 5v5 player-versus-player arenas.
Helping make that world feel authentically DC is acclaimed comic-book writer Gail Simone, known for her work on Birds of Prey, Batgirl and Wonder Woman. Simone was initially brought aboard to write dialogue before helping expand the story and further connect it to the DC Universe. “My job, once I came on, was to make it all fit together and make sense,” Simone said in an interview with DC. “I got to steer the game a bit to focus on some of my favorite things in the stories, but the framework was already there at the start.” Simone also pointed to DC’s history and legacy as a major source of possibilities for the game, especially when it comes to the many versions of its heroes and villains. “A lot of it was decided at the start, but there’s going to be a whole lot more added later. There is an approval process so everyone can agree on which version of which character can appear, but the bottom line is we aren’t going to run out of ideas. There’s so much we can bring into the game, from different stories to different characters. There are zillions of them at our fingertips for us to bring in.”
That dedication to DC’s massive history makes the arrival of the Absolute Trinity even more exciting. Less than two years after Absolute Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman helped launch a bold new era of DC Comics, the three heroes are already expanding beyond the printed page.
