DC finally set a date for solo Lois Lane comic run
DC have finally set a date for a solo Lois Lane comic book run! For years Lois Lane has been under-shadowed by Superman, despite debuting at the same time. Of course, people tend to focus on the iconic character – the big blue, but sometimes its good to showcase it’s supporting cast and characters.
According to Bleeding Cool have confirmation that there will be a solo Lois Lane comic book run, and I cannot wait! As a female Superman fan, I have waited SO long for this. Although I’m a huge fan of Superman himself, I am also a huge fan of the fearless and ballsy reporter, Lois Lane. It has also been announced that there will be a Jimmy Olsen solo too, but for now, I want to focus on Miss Lane.
Greg Rucka and Mike Perkins will be teaming up on this new Lois Lane title, which is set to launch in June. The storyline is set to truly begin during the Leviathan Rising story arc, which has just been introduced in Bendis’ run of Action Comics. Readers of this comic series have had an inkling this was going to happen for a while, this was due to Lois’ actions in the latest series, which have been quite out of character. Well it turns out, it was just the lead up to the ace reporter finally getting her own run.
Greg Rucka is renowned for his recent work on Wonder Woman, and if that is anything to go by, we are in for a real treat. I really believeGreg will do a brilliant job with our beloved Lois Lane. Not to mention, he is teamingup with British comic book artist – Mike Perkins. This comic series really isin worthy hands.
Personally, I am so glad that this is finally happening. I am so glad that DC have finally set a date for the Lois Lane run. Seriously, it feels like it should have happened years ago. A lot of people know Lois as Superman’s lady friend and love interest, but true fans and comic readers know that certainly isn’t the case. She has provided a role model for female readers for 80 years now, and I cannot wait for her to inspire more, as well as those people who may have disregarded her previously.
I wish Rucka and Perkins the best of luck with this project. It certainly has peaked my interest. Kick ass Lois, we know you can do it.
