Iron Studios has begun pre-orders for their latest Superman Unleashed figure! Last year, Brazilian statue maker Iron Studios began a new line of 1/10th scale polystone models called the Unleashed series. Since their first pre-order of Thor, there was the question of who would be the first DC character they did, and thus, the preorders have now begun for Iron Studio’s new Superman Unleashed figure with a release planned for the fourth quarter of this year.

Here’s a look at the brand new Iron Studios Superman Unleashed figure:

When Iron Studios do their take on a characters design, they not only stay true to the source material but include details of their own based on the characters appearances in contemporary culture. Iron Studios invokes what has always made Superman iconic since 1939 with his signature pose, detailed crest, and red briefs and boots. They also boast a modern influence with Superman’s stylised yellow belt as a small diamond crest with wing-like designs on each side.

This belt draws influence from appearances in the New 52 and Rebirth before Clark returned to the original belt with the circular buckle. Cuffs on Superman’s sleeves have now become commonplace since Henry Cavil donned them in Man of Steel. His cape is fastened to his chest rather than tucked within his collar which is another recognised fashion. His boots are stylised to invoke a Kryptonian influence. Of course, nothing is more classic than the yellow emblem on the back of his cape made of fabric.

The base of the statue has a nice diorama background of Fortress of Solitude crystals made mainstream by Richard Donner and Christopher Reeve. The grey base invokes the more darker and grounded fortress in Man of Steel. The bronze House of El emblem is a nice touch and more or less serves as the models nameplate. Despite all these existing references, part of Iron Studio’s creative process in the Unleashed series is using their own. In my opinion, the face model or reference they used looks like a cross between Alex Ross’ Kingdom Come Superman and Leonardo DiCaprio in Wolf of Wall Street. This proves to be an attractive combo that works with a spit curl.

The Iron Studios Superman Unleashed statue was revealed on Iron Studio’s YouTube channel as part of a virtual event they were holding. Collectors and comic fans rejoiced when DC joined the ranks of the Unleashed line with a bang. It’s available for pre-order for $199.99 from Iron Studios directly and other high-end collectible vendors like Sideshow Collectibles.
