The book is written by Brendan Reichs (known for his worn on Darkdeep and Project Nemesis), with art by Jerry Gaylord (known for his work on Loki: Ragnarok & Roll and Fanboy Vs Zombies). Reichs is a New York Times Bestselling Author, so it is clear that our favourite characters are in good hands.
Here’s a look at the cover:
It tells the story of the pair as teenagers in Smallville and Clark uses his powers to bag himself an internship at LexCorp, where the two meet. With Ma and Pa Kent demanding that Clark hide his powers, he has a hard time with the idea of not being able to use them, especially when it comes to doing chores around the farm. LexCorp hosts a competition to find the best candidate for an internship in Metropolis, Clark manages to find a way in by utilising his powers. During the competition candidates go missing and the pair are forced to put their differences aside to save them.
I am always fascinated with their friendship, I guess different series and writers have a different take on how the pair meet and how they navigated themselves to the relationship they have now. When I hear what this book is about, I instantly get ‘Smallville’ vibes and that is not a bad thing at all.
‘Clark & Lex’ is set for release on 1st August 2023 and is available to pre-order from your local comic shop.
