DC Comics has just announced two brand new ‘Dawn of DC’ titles featuring Power Girl and Fire & Ice which are set to officially launch with ‘Power Girl Special #1’.

The three DC superheroes are set to get their own new standalone comic book series, ‘Power Girl’ and ‘Fire & Ice: Welcome To Smallville’. These two series are set to be part of the ‘Dawn Of DC’ storytelling initiative.

‘Power Girl’ and ‘Fire & Ice: Welcome To Smallville’ will spin out of the pages of ‘Power Girl Special #1’ which is set for release on 30th May and will be available at your local comic shops. The ‘Power Girl Special #1’ is a one-shot written by Leah Williams, with art by Marguerite Sauvage. The pair previously worked together in the Power Girl back up stories in Action Comics recently, that back up story will continue to be fleshed out in the special issue.

The special also features a 10 page back up story featuring Fire & Ice. The story will be written by Joanne Starer, with art by Natacha Bustos, colours by Tamra Bonvillain and letters by Ariana Maher. Here is the official synopsis from DC Comics: “In the introductory tale, Fire and Ice respond to a natural disaster in Baltimore, debating whether to involve Ice’s old flame Guy Gardner. When Guy causes some major drama at the scene, Superman gets involved to stop the fight“.

There will be covers for the ‘Power Girl Special #1’ by Marguerite Sauvage, Artgerm, Amanda Conner, Tula Lotay, Taj Tenfold and David Nakayama. Here’s a look at the cover by Nakayama, which will also be available in a special foil format.

Here is the official synopsis by DC Comics “Superman sent the former Justice Leaguers packing for Smallville to lie low following their extremely public and utterly disastrous mission in Baltimore, and in doing so doomed them to a fate worse than death: irrelevance. Ice finds herself drawn to the quiet life and dreams of planting roots. But Fire…well, Fire will do just about anything to get the hell outta dodge and back on the Super Hero circuit—including challenging the DC Universe’s biggest villains to a knock-down, drag-out, live-streamed brawl in the streets of Smallville!”
