REVIEW: Superman & Lois, S4, Ep 4, “A Perfectly Good Wedding”
Superman & Lois, S4, Ep 4, “A Perfectly Good Wedding” let’s us catch our breath a bit from the emotional rollercoaster the first three episodes had us on. The focus shifts to Chrissy Beppo and Kyle Cushing’s relationship as they head toward their wedding day. That being said, there still plenty of the drama this series has commanded as nothing ever goes as planned in Smallville.
The bigger moment is hard not to spoil as it was teased at the end of the previous episode and confirmed before the opening credits of this one. Feelings of hope, joy, and gratitude get mixed with loss, grief, and guilt as The Kents take a moment to reflect on their past few weeks. Meanwhile Kyle is practically giddy to be married again but Chrissy appears less certain. Emotions and intentions remain unspoken until the pressure overwhelms Chrissy and celebrations get cut short.
Keeping tabs on the overall plot of this season, Lois intends to track down known associates of Lex as part of her plan to send him back to prison. Using that motivation as bait, Lex sets a trap for Superboy with unexpected results. The world now knows another super being is in play and the final scene indicates The Kent’s moments of peace are about to abruptly end.
There’s definitely a calm before the storm feeling to Superman & Lois S4 Ep 4 as we take stock in other lives of Smallville and relish in an uneasy sense of normalcy. There’s definitely more challenges ahead as this final season continues.
Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman, Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, Alex Garfin as Jordan Kent, and Michael Bishop as Jonathan Kent with appearances by Erik Valdez as Kyle Cushing, Sofia Hasmik as Chrissy Beppo, and Inde Navarrette as Sarah Cushing.
