REVIEW: Superman & Lois, S4, Ep 9, “To Live and Die Again”
Superman & Lois S4, Ep 9, “To Live and Die Again” is the penultimate episode to the popular TV series and gears up for a finale that’s sure to be spectacular. There can be a tendency for these types of episodes to feel rushed, but this one takes time to add an epilogue to the events of last season and still leave us on a cliffhanger akin to Season 3’s finale.
After Lex’s successful manipulations last episode, Lois feels Luthor has essentially achieved his goal of dismantling Lois and Clark’s reputation. Clark reminds her of her own journalistic advice and she ends up visiting Bruno Mannheim in prison. Meanwhile Clark, worried about what Luthor will do with John Henry’s armor, gets disheartened his sons won’t be able to hold their own against it.
Lois then helps him realize the twins true strength and alters his training accordingly. It’s a real nice touch to have each of them help with the other’s obstacles which simply shows how much of a power couple these two are. By episode’s end, Lex finds a way to sic Doomsday on Smallville. There’s a strong feeling of deja vu as the battle that ended Season 3 begins anew. Hopefully there will be a different outcome as we only have one episode left.
Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman, Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, Alex Garfin as Jordan Kent, Michael Bishop as Jonathan Kent, with Michael Cudlitz as Lex Luthor, and Chad L. Coleman as Bruno Mannheim.
