Kodansha is largest Japanese publishing company specialising in Manga and Anime, best known for their work on a series called ‘Attack On Titan‘. In this brand new series, we will follow Superman as he visits numerous restaurants in Japan for lunch. It sounds a little odd, I must admit, but I’m sure there will be some villains and emergencies along the way.

The series will be written by Miyagawa Satoshi and illustrated by Kitago Kai and I have to say the preview artwork that has been released looks great. It really looks like it’s going to appeal to wider audience and Superman just looks excellent in this design. Here’s a look at the artwork that has been released so far:

I think this is a fantastic idea, and Superman in Manga is something we haven’t seen often enough, so it will be very interesting to see how it goes. It’s a great way to showcase Superman with different audiences too, though Japan is very familiar with the character, adding the classic Anime/Manga style to it will really give him an excelled lease of life there.

My only concern so far is that the series will ONLY be released in Japan as it currently stands, but like I said I hope it turns out to be very popular there and then expands to the rest of the world. It would be a shame if the rest of the world had to miss out on this.

‘Superman Vs Meshi’ is set to release on 22nd June, so if you are able to, be sure to grab yourself a copy and let us know how it is!
