REVIEW: Superman & Lois S4, E6, “When The Lights Come On”

Superman & Lois S4, E6, “When The Lights Come On” sees Luthor go too far and bring down a well deserved reckoning. Playing on first season themes, Luthor tries to move LexCorp to Smallville only to have the townspeople show they’ve learned from past mistakes. The episode also marks the beginning of the end for the series as we only have four more left.

For the most part this episode doesn’t really stand out too much. Lex makes a play to move LexCorp to Smallville and meets major resistance from Mayor Lang. In a great moment of solidarity, the town rebukes Luthor’s attempt. This causes Lex to orchestrate an attempt on Lana’s life which turns out to be the final straw of Clark’s tolerance.

Superman & Lois S4, E6

Since Clark’s return, his powers haven’t reached the same levels as before which has him making minimal appearances as Superman. Thinking he can intimidate Clark by exposing him to one of his weakness, Lex misjudges Clark’s resolve which leads to an epic showdown between these archenemies. The last few scenes is where the episode really grabs you. All the recent tension that’s been building comes pouring out of both men and Tyler Hoechlin & Michael Cudlitz really give it their all. The conflict is hardly far from over as the series finale looms ever closer.
