REVIEW: My Adventures With Superman S1 Ep 7: “Kiss Kiss Fall In Portal”

My Adventures With Superman Ep 7, “Kiss Kiss Fall in Portal” is a game changer in every sense of the word. Superman’s place in the world and multiverse have all been confirmed as he grows closer to his friends. All he has to do is discover it. However, Lois may be uneasy about that with a bombshell of a multiversal truth being revealed.

My Adventures With Superman Ep 7, “Kiss Kiss Fall In Portal’ is here and it’s safe to say that things have certainly escalated, and it’s only the seventh episode! This episode goes fully multi-versal as Superman faces another timeless enemy and an indirect new, unsuspecting one in what is a wild ride with tonnes of Superman and DC easter eggs.

The timeless charade is over. Lois (Alice Lee) and Jimmy (Ishmel Sahid) are now fully in the loop about Clark (Jack Quaid) being Superman. Not only can their adventures with Superman now truly begin, but they also embark on the journey to discover the mysteries behind his alien home world – something that Clark usually has to face alone. He and Lois decide to start over on a date without any Superman dealings. Of course, those plans are foiled by the fifth-dimensional imp, Mister Mxyzptlk (David Errigo Jr.).

My Adventures With Superman Ep 7 Review | The Aspiring Kryptonian

Being a multi-dimensional being, Mxyzptlk has always been drawn to Superman across the multiverse and this one is the latest. He could tell Clark all about Krypton, but would rather he finds out himself like the others. In the meantime, he claims to need his help in saving the multiverse. Knowing that trickster, it’s more than likely one of his schemes. Lois and Jimmy have a far-from-normal day as well when a multiversal organization of Lois Lanes across different universes. Not only do they have intel on Mxyzptlk as they chase him down, but they also have plenty of data on Superman that they want to keep secret. Lois has to out-Lois her fellow Lois here.

There is a lot to unpack in this episode. Firstly, Clark and Lois’ relationship here finally takes a romantic turn, they’re a timeless couple and there can be only so many episodes in any show before they end up together, assuming they aren’t already. It’s warm seeing them go back to basics like trying to organize the perfect date as young adults.

You have got to love this cute reimagining of Mister Mxyzptlk. He does look like a little Shonen character from Dragonball Super. He’s still pocket-sized, though. Despite that, he is the very same Mxyzptlk that has been messing with Superman across the multiverse – some of which we are very familiar with. He also, more or less, gives My Adventures With Superman a place in the full animated story of Superman that has been going on since the 40s. As you can imagine, the DC easter eggs in this episode are all because of him. While going multi-versal may seem risky to some viewers this early on in the series compared to the ongoing main conflict, this episode needed to be in order to open Lois’ eyes to the worst that can possibly come from Superman.
