REVIEW: My Adventures With Superman S1 Ep 8: ‘Zero Day Part One’

A to-be-continued story in My Adventures With Superman Ep 8 also means that the credits scenes are altered a little bit to reflect the mood. Superman’s greatest challenge thus far is only just beginning. There are absolutely twists that are going to be coming out of this. If you didn’t have eyes on this show already, this is the perfect point to binge-watch it.

The events of My Adventures With Superman Ep 8 means there’s no time for Clark and Lois to celebrate one week since they began dating. The shadow government task force emerges from behind the scenes and finally makes their move. Old enemies naturally return and Superman comes face to face with what could be his biggest and most personal battle so far.

Clark’s (Jack Quaid) powers continue to grow as he discovers his super hearing, along with the numerous cries for help. Never one to refuse a call, he sets out to help quite literally everyone in the city. It’s great and all, but he hasn’t yet tapped into the unlimited stamina. Meanwhile, a visit from Gotham City’s Vicki Vale (Andromeda Dunker) to investigate Superman shakes the Daily Planet and Lois (Alice Lee). However, as she joins her hero in journalism, she realizes that Vicki Vale may not be all that. After her multi-versal adventure, she’s wrestling with her trust in Clark after finding out a harsh truth about Superman.

My Adventures With Superman Ep 8 Review | The Aspiring Kryptonian

Superman becomes sloppy while out on rescue patrol and inadvertently causes a car accident. At a time when public trust and confidence in him becomes questionable, it’s not exactly something he can afford. He can’t go on PR damage control because he’s too busy chasing down Mist (Lucas Grabeel), who apparently escaped from captivity. What starts as a rescue mission turns out to be an ambush as Task Force X forms for the first time. Although, here, it’s really more of a Superman revenge squad with Dr. Ivo (Jake Green) at the front of the charge.

Jimmy Olsen (Ishmel Sahid) doesn’t really have much of a major role in this episode. Lois and Vicki’s day out is the first act. Again, it continues to be interesting seeing Lois not be the best journalist in the room. It’s actually been a couple of episodes since she did something related to the Planet. While Clark is making some serious Superman progress, Lois has yet to climb so ranks on the Planet. It’s hard to see her like that when all the other reporters aren’t that good.

My Adventures With Superman Ep 8 Review | The Aspiring Kryptonian

The villain mash at the end is what you came for. If this were a comic series then this feels like the penultimate issue in the arc. This is the time when we see Superman on the ropes, and I mean really on the ropes. All the villains do their stuff, Livewire shoots electricity, Rough House punches, Silver Banshee screams, Heatwave shoots fire, Slade uses his swords, and Ivo continues to take on the Parasite-like role he was given in this series.

A to-be-continued story in My Adventures With Superman Ep 8 also means that the credits scenes are altered a little bit to reflect the mood. Superman’s greatest challenge thus far is only just beginning. There are absolutely twists that are going to be coming out of this. ‘My Adventures With Superman’ airs new episodes Thursday’s at midnight on Adult Swim and is then available to stream on Max the following day.
