McFarlane Toys Give First Look at Multiverse Cyborg Superman and DC Direct Superman
Two new Superman releases from two different figure lines from McFarlane Toys are coming and both figures look amazing. Cyborg Superman from The New 52 makes his debut in the DC Multiverse series and Superman based on his appearance from ‘Our Worlds at War’ is part of a wave of DC Direct.
Cyborg Superman had a cool design in The New 52, adopting the sleeker look the heroes and villains had at the time, especially Superman’s trunkless suit. What made him stick out was his elongated robotic arm, which added a more demented feel to him as opposed to the half man half machine symmetry he was introduced with . Here, he feels wholly machine and no man, DC Multiverse 7” scale figures usually come with a display base and a collectible character card.
DC Direct figures are also 7” scale figures with just as much articulation, so they can be displayed next to DC Multiverse figures nicely. They also come with figure bases, attachments, and character cards. What makes them special in McFarlane Toys’ hands is that they all come with redeemable codes for digital collectibles. Our Worlds at War featured the heroes of DC waging a war against the devasting Imperiex. Superman had his work cut out for him, taking on the Fatal Five on his own as well as going against the big bad himself.
The event saw various writers and artists working on it and really made the Man of Steel fight tooth and nail. Superman was drawn by so many that it’s hard to say which one this figure is based on. Regardless, the darker shading is a nice touch, and the inclusion of an eagle would make Peacemaker jealous. The other two figures in the wave are The Atom from DC: The Silver Age and Green Arrow from Longbow Hunter. All three can be collected and an Animal Man digital build-a-figure can be redeemed.
The DC Multiverse Cyborg Superman will be available to pre-order on May 16 for $22.99 while the DC Direct Our Worlds at War Superman will be available for $24.99 on May 23 along with the other figures in the wave.
