The DC Designer Series strikes again with this Jim Lee piece, which is incredibly detailed resin Superman statue. The piece is part of the ongoing DC Designer Series which are statues based upon the artwork and design of DC’s leading creators and artists. Not only is this great for us as collectors – we get statues of our favorite heroes pulled directly from the comics in a 3D format, it is a great opportunity for DC creators to bring their characters and designs to life in yet another fantastic format, which isn’t always the case.
This piece in particular is based on the art of and designed by Jim Lee, but sculpted by Djordje Djokovic. The pair have really brought Lee’s vision to life with an iconic Superman pose and incredible detail. It stands at 12″ tall, which is a perfect statue size and is limited to 5,000 pieces. Each piece will be numbered, so you know where yours stands in the production.
It very much reminds me of Jim Lee’s cover of Superman Vol 2 – Issue 204, it is iconic! Like I said, you don’t always get to see comic book based statues, it’s mostly from films or TV now, but this designer series is really giving us just that! This is a must for any Superman or Jim Lee fan/collector. I especially love the stand, with the legendary symbol of hope, it’s a really nice touch. For a better look at the piece from different angles, take a look at the 360 video below.
DC also showcased an unpainted model, which was shown at New York Toy Fair this year. Personally, I will this version was also available to buy, it looks monumental.
The DC Designer Series Jim Lee Statue is priced at $160.00 or it is also available in the UK for around £145.99, which is not a bad price at all for what you get! It is available now from most local comic book stores and online retailers, I would be quick if I were you, I have a feeling this is going to be very popular.
